Before proceeding to torrents, I highly suggest using P2P (peer-to-peer) clients first.
I can really only suggest the SLSK/nicotine+ client for P2P needs. It grants access to the most active and abundant P2P "network" available.
Yes, it (loosely) requires a port to be forwarded (for sharing), but there is nothing better for obtaining any media.
To add: nicotine+ is just a modernized client for the SLSK servers. To infantilize things, they are the "same thing".
